Week 3 - A New Week Starting

Well, I didn't get my exercise in yesterday and I'm not even sure why except to say it was hot. I did however clean up around the house a bit.

Today is Sunday which starts my new week. I took a walk with my dog this morning. He did 2 laps around the neighborhood with me, which is .8 of a mile. He did pretty well but I think it was because it was early in the morning and still cool. He doesn't like to go far, he's only good for one lap. I must say Tucker is a small dog but overweight. He's probably about 15 to 20 lbs overweight.
Here's a photo of my dog. This photo actually makes him look thinner than he is. If only I looked thinner in my photos. LOL.

He's a rat terrier mix according to the Humane Society where we got him about eight years ago.

Anyway, I put him in the house after we did 2 laps together and I did an extra lap. So I got one mile in so far this week. I hope to get another mile in later on today.

Walking - Week 2

I didn't get to exercise yesterday (Friday). Too much going on. I spent the day watching my grandson play games at school for field day. They get to compete with each other, kick the ball, basketball, running competition, and other games. All the grades participate from first to fifth.

Anyway, I spent the whole day there and it was so hot that when I came home I didn't feel like doing any exercise. I know another excuse you might say, but I hope not. I'm trying and I guess that's all we can do.

Today is another day and it's Saturday. It is cooling off a bit because the weatherman is calling for rain. He was saying heavy rain and thunderstorms yesterday too but we didn't have much of anything. Someone had mentioned once on a blog somewhere that did you know the weathermen/women can be wrong and still they never get fired? Is this the only job in the world that you can be totally wrong and never get fired? Maybe there's more, but I can't think of any. If you think of any other jobs like that, please let me know.

So far this week my exercise looks like this...
Tues. - 2 mile walk outside
Wed. - 2 mile walk outside
Thurs. - 2 mile walk on treadmill
Sat. - (Yet to be seen)(Update on Sat., I didn't get any exercise done today, Argh!)

Got Exercise in Today - Week 2

I got my exercise in this morning (today is Thursday) on the treadmill. So glad I did because it's so hot you can hardly stand it. I got another 2 miles in. It's suppose to thunderstorm later on but it hasn't started yet. That's what we need to cool off.

I need to get my eating habits under control. I exercise and then go out and buy snack foods like ice-cream later on. I'm just sabotaging myself and never getting anywhere.

Walking - Week 2

Today is Wednesday and I got up this morning and did a 2 mile walk. I love walking in the morning because the sun isn't yet beating down on me to where I feel fried.

Yesterday my husband wanted to take a walk around 5 pm and it was so hot I felt like I almost passed out. My face was beat red and it took awhile to cool down from the heat. That was another 2 mile walk.

I feel like I'm getting back into exercising again but it's hard to get motivated sometimes. I do know I have to do my exercising in the mornings because as the day goes on, I feel like I can't get into walking at all. I also need to exercise before getting on the computer. Once I get on the computer I don't feel like walking either.

So, so far this week... I completed...
Tues. - 2 mile walk
Wed. - 2 mile walk

I want to get in another 3 days before the end of Saturday.

Anyone else have any tips to stay motivated?

Exercising in Rainy Weather -Week 1

When it's rainy outside I tend not to exercise. What about you? Are there days that just make you feel like not exercising? I do have a treadmill so this shouldn't be an excuse but sometimes I do make it a excuse not to get my walk in. Are there things you do or say to yourself to get you motivated to exercise?

So needless to say I didn't exercise on Monday and Tuesday. They were crappy days with the weather. Wednesday we did another 2 miles outside.

Then on Thursday I didn't exercise because I just had too much going on. I hate it when I don't get my exercise in. Not that I like to exercise because I don't. But, I am trying to make sure I get in at least 5 days of exercise a week. So hopefully today (today is Friday) I will get my exercise in, although I have alot going on today too. So much stuff gets in the way of my exercise. I know I'm not suppose to let anything else come above my exercise routine for my health, but unfortunetly I do.

Maybe since this is my first official full week of doing my exercising again, I shouldn't be so hard on myself. My week runs from Sun. to Sat. So far I have one day of exercise in this week. Even if I get today in and Saturday's exercise done, I will have only done 3 days this week. Will have to wait and see. Got to get at least two days in this week since last week I got two days of exercise done.

Exercise Sunday - Week 1

We got our walk in today and did another two miles. Checked my blood glucose and before exercise it was 128, which isn't too bad. And, then 1/2 hour after exercising it was 96. A great number to come down to.

Finally Started Exercising! Week 1

Well, I finally started exercising after getting checked out by several doctors. I have to lower my cholesterol and triglycerides. Need to get the A1C down because of diabetes. As you get older you need to exercise more than ever or you just end up with a lot more problems.

I got those high sketchers a few weeks ago but never wore them. Do you know what I'm talking about? Do you have a pair? They're called, shape ups. Suppose to help with toning your legs and improve your posture. You're only suppose to wear them to walk in, not to run. Although, I have along time to go before I think about running anyway. Someday I hope to run in a 5K but it will be awhile. Got to get in shape first.

My husband and I walked two miles yesterday. Since yesterday was Saturday, I'm not going to count that as the start of my exercise. I'll start my exercise program from Sunday to Saturday. Two miles was tough for me. Boy! That's when you know you're out of shape is when you are huffing and puffing just on the tiny hills. I know it was a little much on the first day but when your outside walking you just want to keep going. We're going for the two miles again today. We'll see how it goes.

You're welcome to follow me on this blog on my weight loss and getting healthy journey. Today is a new day and I plan on getting rid of this excess weight once and for all. Okay I've committed on this blog, now I have to do it. Anyway, I'm hoping to lose anywhere between 60 to 70 lbs in a year. If that's the case then I will need to lose an average of close to 6 lbs a month. Is it doable? Well, we'll find out. That means by May 16th in 2011, I should be alot lighter. Too bad I'm not on the Biggest Loser, I could lose it in four months. Guess I'm on my own with this one.
